MG Hector SUV will be 'Internet car', work will be from voice command

MG Hector connectivity features revealed MG Motor is launching its new MG Hector SUV in India. Earlier, the company has introduced connectivity features in the cabin. Read here in detail.

Morris Garages India today presented its upswing SUV MG Hector's cabin features on Tuesday. In the emerging MG Hector, a new enhanced connectivity system called 'i-Smart Next-Generation System' will be given. It is a comprehensive integrated solution, which includes software, hardware, connectivity, service and applications.

This system has been developed in collaboration with technology partners such as Cisco, Unlimit and Microsoft. i-Smart Connectivity System will come with features such as Advanced Technology, Smart Apps, built-in apps, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Features, Voice Assistant and Infotainment. Sales of MG Hector will start from June this year.

A 10.4-inch touchscreen unit will be provided in the car for the i-Smart Next-Generation. The designing of this display will be in the vertical interface. Through this the drivers will be able to control the whole system system with voice command or touch. This smart system will come with M2M SIM so that the car can stay connected. This solution was prepared by Unlimit in partnership with Cisco and Airtel. The company has also informed that these systems are 5G Ready.

Through embedded SIM connectivity, users will be able to receive real-time software, entertainment content and app updates. Users will also be getting software updates via OTA updates like smartphones in this system. The company claims that OTA updates will be delivered in an Indian car for the first time. 

Nuance has developed the MG Hector SUV's voice control interface.

The company informed that it has been specifically prepared for Indian Accent. The company has also said that built-in AI and machine learning will gradually improve with the use of the system. To activate it, the voice command of 'Hello MG' has to be given. Through this, a lot of work can be done to open sunroof, turn on AC, play music. It will also work better in the low connectivity area too.

TomTom's Real Time Navigation System is also provided in iSmart Next Gen. There will be regular updates for Maps, Roots and Location. In this system, Accaweather has also been supported for Music for Gaine App's Music and Weather Updates for Music. The iSMART app is also supported in this system. The company has informed that whenever the app opens, it will scan the whole car and provide car details, tire pressure and many such information.

Owners can work like lock-unlock, open sunroof and AC on-off (in automatic only) through this app. Speaking about the customer service, the company has set up a center called Pulse Hub. ECall Emergency Response will be enabled through this. That is, if the airbags are open in the emergency condition, then it will send an alert message to Pulse Hub and two emergency numbers. The company has informed that data for this system will be provided free of charge for a few years of launch.
