Priyanka Gandhi's direct fight with Akhilesh in UP will not
be Mayawati
In Uttar Pradesh, SP-BSP coalition has declared the seats.
There are 38 seats in the SP's account and 38 in the BSP account. The
interesting thing is that most seats have been received by the Samajwadi Party,
where the Congress was at second place in the last election. This means that
Priyanka will not be contesting against Mayawati, but Akhilesh Yadav.
In Uttar Pradesh, SP-BSP coalition has declared the seats.
38 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the SP will contest the polls on
37 seats. Akhilesh Yadav has got such parliamentary seats in the account where
he will face the Congress rather than the BJP. There are nearly a dozen Lok
Sabha seats in the state, where Priyanka Gandhi's arrival is considered to be a
strong Congress. In such a situation, Priyanka is seen fighting in these seats,
not from Mayawati but from Akhilesh.
In the elections of 2014, the Congress won only two seats in
Amethi and Rae Bareli from the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from
this, there were about six such seats, where he was at second place. Among them
were Lucknow, Kanpur, Kushinagar, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur and Barabanki
parliamentary seats. Apart from this, the Congress got more votes than the SP
on the Varanasi and Mirzapur Lok Sabha seats.
Akhilesh's account of Lucknow, Kanpur, Kushinagar,
Ghaziabad, Varanasi and Barabanki have come in the seat sharing between SP-BSP
in the state. The interesting thing is that many of these seats are such where
the SP has never tasted the taste of victory. While most of these seats have
been contesting between the Congress and the BJP. Not only this, the SP was
fourth in Varanasi and fifth in Varanasi. While in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and
Kushinagar, it was quite behind.
Following political knock of Priyanka Gandhi, the political
equations of the state have changed and new activists are seen in Congress
workers and leaders. Priyanka has been given the responsibility of 41 Lok Sabha
seats in the Purvanchal of UP. He has tried to understand the political mood by
meeting the workers of these Lok Sabha seats directly.
Congress has targeted to win nearly two dozen Lok Sabha
seats in the state. Most of these seats are same as those which have gone to
SP's account. Saharanpur seat is where the Congress is contesting from the BSP.
Apart from this, some seats in Doab area where there is a fight between BSP and
Congress. Whereas from West UP to Purvanchal and Awadh areas, Congress has
identified seats to win, where the SP and Congress are expected to face a
political fight.
Not only this, the SP-BSP is divided equally to the Muslim
majority Lok Sabha seats in the state. Seats of West and Doab where BSP has
gone to the account. At the same time, Muslim majority seats of Ruhalkhand,
Awadh and Purvanchal in the SP's account. Not only this, many Muslim-majority
seats like Bijnor and Nagina have been left for the BSP, whereas in the last
election, it was second only. If the Congress also raises the Muslim candidates
in these seats, then the SP-BSP can rejoin the alliance with the coalition.
