MTNL chairman will take over charge BSNL's CMD additional charge

MTNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) PK Purvar has been decided to appoint CMD of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for a period of three months.

MTNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) PK Purvar has been decided to appoint CMD of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for a period of three months. After the approval of Cabinet Appraisal Committee (ACC), it will be effective from July 1.

According to an order of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), BSNL CMD, under the interim arrangement after the retirement of BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastav on June 30, and the additional charge of BSNL CMD, is being handed over to MTNL's CMD PK Purvar. It will be effective till the next CMD appointment for three months from July 1, or until the next order

Purvar said, 'I am charging from Monday. Unless I take charge and do not understand the issues with all the facts, I will not want to comment on what my priority will be. ' Sources however said that the efforts of Purvar will be to maintain both organizations, BSNL and MTNL in operational efficiency.

Both organizations have many problems and the problems of BSNL have become public, which is facing serious financial crisis. What is most important is that these networks should be maintained in operation, generate revenue and make the network so that the moment the Government comes to the foregree spectrum, services can be provided with a very high priority.

Sources said that it is believed that the entire DOT will follow the instructions. There will be no additional payment during assuming additional charge. Purva's selection was made in January this year through the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB).
