A seven-year-old boy was killed by West Nile Fever recently
in Malappuram district of Kerala. The West Nile Virus (WNV) clearly influenced
the nervous system of the boy, resulting in complexities and death due to a
heart attack. The West Nile virus spreads the cuex mosquito, which is more
active in summer.
According to the National Health Portal of India (NHPI), the
presence of WNV in clinical samples was confirmed during the outbreak of acute
encephalitis syndrome in Kerala in May 2011. Since then, cases of WNV
encephalitis have been coming out regularly in Kerala. The cuex mosquito
spreading in the WWNV is more active in the summer.
Padmashree Dr K.K., President of Health Care Foundation of
India (HCFI) Agarwal says that West Nail fever increases the risk of
mosquito-borne infections in the summer, therefore caution should be taken. The
WNV remains in nature through the transmission cycle between birds and
mosquitoes. From this, humans, horses and other mammals can also be infected.
He told that humans are victims of this infection by bites
of infected mosquitoes. The virus can also spread through other infected
animals, through contact with their blood or other tissues. This organ
transplant can also be done through blood transfusion ie transfusion and breast
milk. However, a case of human transmission of human transmission has not been
revealed by any person from WNV through accidental contact. This infection can
be like dengue or chikungunya.
Dr. Agarwal said that the cycle of mosquito takes 7-12 days
to complete. Therefore, if any vessel or container that stores the water is
cleaned once a week, there is no possibility of mosquito reproduction.
He told that the symptoms of fever, headache, fatigue, body
ache, nausea, vomiting, skin rashes (only occasionally) and swelling in the
lymph glands are included in the initial symptoms. As the situation becomes
severe, neck stiffness, disorientation, coma, shiver, muscle weakness and
paralysis can occur.
He said, "The most effective way to prevent infection
is to avoid mosquito bites. Use the protective cream from worms, wear
long-sleeved shirts and pants, and take all steps to control mosquitoes indoors
inside the house. . "
Some suggestions of Dr. Agarwal:
-Meeters can lay eggs in the tank of water or in water tanks
on the roof, if they are not covered properly. If the birds kept on rooftops
clean the water vessel every week, otherwise the mosquito can lay eggs in them
too.
Try to use mucus or mosquito repellant.
The wearing of the entire shirt and trouser can prevent
mosquito bites. Mosquito repellent can be used in the day.
