In the history of Indian cinema, Satyajit was the first
person to come to the Oscars with himself. Seeing the work of Satyajit, if he
goes on walking as a film institute then there is no exaggeration in it.
Satyajit has not only been in the country but also has become a lover of his
work all over the world. Today is Satyajit Ray's birthday. He was born in
Kolkata in 1921.
The father died when he was three years old. Mother Suprapha
had to face many difficulties in her upbringing. Satyajit worked as a graphic
designer in 1943. During that time, he had designed a cover of many famous
books, including Man It's Kumaum of Jim Corbett and Discovery of India of
Jawaharlal Nehru.
Satyajit Ray played an important role in preparing the child
version of Pather Panchali, the famous novel of Vibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhyay.
Its name was Am Anthir Bappu (Whistle of Mango seeds). Satyajit was impressed
with this book. He also prepared a number of sketches for the cover of this
book, which later became his beautiful and famous shots of his first film
Pather Panchali.
In 1950, Ray got the chance to go to London with the work of
his company. There he saw many movies there. After returning to India, Satyajit
decided that now Pather will make a film on Panchali.
In 1952, Satyajit Ray started shooting the film with a
newbie team. If no one was willing to bet on a new filmmaker, then put the
money in his own film, even till he kept the wife's jewels up to Jovar.
After a few days the money was over and the shooting was
stopped. They tried to get help from some people. But they wanted some changes
in the film, according to which the ray was not ready. In the end, the West
Bengal Government helped him and in 1955 Pather Panchali came on the screen.
This movie made the heart of critics and audiences happy.
The film, which has many weeks in Kolkata, has received many national and
international awards. Among them, the special award, Best Human Document, found
at the Cannes Film Festival of France.
In 1992 Satyajit Ray was announced to give an Oscar
(Honorary Award for Lifetime Achievement), but during that time he was very
ill. In such a situation, Oscars officials decided that these awards would be
delivered to them. The team of officials reached the house of Satyajit Ray in
Kolkata and was honored with the award. He died due to a heart attack on April
23, 1992, within a month.
