A new study report states that high intake of green tea and
carrot reduces the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
Alzheimer's is a mental disease, due to which the patient's
memory becomes weak and its effect falls on the brain's work. This is the most
common type of dementia. It has a bad effect on the person's memory, ability to
think, everyday activities. But in a new study report, the intake of green tea
and carrot can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's.
This study is done by the researchers of the University of
Southern California. According to the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, Alzheimer's disease can lead to more and more people in the coming
times. Affects people's ability to remember the personality, work, thinking,
and things of people battling Alzheimer's disease.
In a study published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry,
the team of researchers examined 2 compounds. The first EGCG and the second
ferulic acid (FA)
EGCG is a kind of antioxidant that is found in abundance in
green tea. This compound prevents the formation of free radicals in the body,
which prevents body cells and molecules from being damaged.
At the same time, in the last few studies, the EGCG compound
helps in keeping new neurons safe, which does not weaken memory.
The second compound is ferulic acid (FA). This compound is
found in carrots, oats and tomatoes. Ferulic acid is also a kind of
antioxidant. This antioxidant helps to remove sunburn, many problems related to
skin including wrinkles.
This study is done on rats. During the study the researchers
divided the mice suffering from Alzheimer's into 4 groups. The four groups
included healthy rats with mice suffering from Alzheimer's. All these rats were
given four different types of diets. Those who are as follows - A group was
given placebo to EGCG and Ferulic acid (FA), the second group was given only to
the EGCG, the third group, only the ferulic acid (FA) and the fourth group.
After this all the rats were examined. The results showed
that the rats which were given EGCG and ferulic acid (FA) diets, performed
within 3 months just like the healthy rats.
Dr. Terrence Town, the chief author of the study, said that
on the basis of study, it can be said that EGCG and ferulic acid (FA) inhibit
the amyloid beta protein in the brain, which is responsible for the weakening
of memory. Also, these antioxidants play an important role in reducing brain
tension.
