SP-BSP coalition in MP and Uttarakhand, seat announcement

In 5 seats of Uttarakhand, Pauri will contest from the Garhwal seat whereas the remaining 4 seats have gone to BSP's account. Among the three seats in Madhya Pradesh, the SP will include Khajuraho, Tikamgarh and Balaghat.

After the alliance of SP-BSP in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections, the two parties have decided to fight in Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand too. In this regard the seats have been divided between the coalition. In this, SP will contest 3 seats in Madhya Pradesh, BSP will contest the remaining 26 seats.

Likewise, in 5 seats of Uttarakhand, Pauri will contest from the Garhwal constituency while the remaining 4 seats are in the BSP. Among the three seats in Madhya Pradesh, the SP will include Khajuraho, Tikamgarh and Balaghat. This information has been given in a joint statement issued by BSP chief Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Recently, in the Vidhan Sabha elections held in Madhya Pradesh, the SP-BSP contested a different election from the Congress. In this, the SP got one and the BSP got two seats. But after the outcome, the BSP decided to give support to the Kamalnath government of Congress.

Split seats in UP

Earlier, the two parties had decided to fight in Uttar Pradesh. In this coalition, 75 seats out of the 80 seats of the UP seats have been split between the two parties. SP will contest 37 of these seats while the BSP will drop its candidates in 38 seats. Of the other 5 seats in UP, 2 seats are in Rae Bareli and Amethi, on which the coalition has decided not to withdraw their candidature. In both of these seats, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his mother are Sonia Gandhi MPs.

It is believed that 3 seats of UP in the SP-BSP combine have been reserved for Ajit Singh's party RLD. There has been a meeting between Jayant Chaudhary and Akhilesh Yadav, though this decision has not been stamped.

If we talk about the results of the last Lok Sabha elections, in 2014, the two parties did not get a single seat outside the UPA. The SP managed to win 5 seats in the UP, while the BSP was swept out of the country and it did not succeed in winning a single Lok Sabha seat. But in the case of vote share, BSP was the third largest party.
