Massachusetts General Hospital has done a study in which it
has come to know that if we are only going to jogging 15 minutes then the risk
of depression will be greatly reduced. If it is not jogging then it is
necessary to do some other physical exercise. Dr. David, the chief researcher
of this study, says, "Whenever we have a patient who comes with a
complaint of depression, we inspire them to do a little stroll to gardening,
instead of medicine." He also emphasized that after 15 minutes of jogging
or some other physical work, our heart should pump 50 percent and fast. David
is called Sweet Spot. For example, if your heart rate before exercise was 60,
then after exercise, it should be 90.
Let me tell you, 611,583 people were part of this study. Some
of them were wearing accelerometer, while some did self-reporting of their
physical work. From this experiment it was understood that those who were
wearing accelerometer and exercised also had less risk of depression compared
to those who did not wear accelerometer. It is also clear from the study that
your DNA has nothing to do with the depression.
Even if your parents have a problem of depression, then this
does not mean that you too will suffer from it. If you take care of your health
and do 15 minutes jogging or doing some other physical work then you are less
prone to depression.
