"Supreme Court Grants Bail to Arvind Kejriwal: What This Means for Delhi’s Chief Minister"
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Supreme Court, which ruled that his "prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty." This decision comes after his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in June, related to the alleged liquor excise policy case.
Kejriwal, who had been in custody for nearly six months without a trial, can now leave jail. He had previously been granted bail in the case filed by the Enforcement Directorate. However, he is restricted from going to his office or the Delhi Secretariat and cannot sign any files without the consent of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
In a brief session on Friday morning, Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Surya Kant delivered separate verdicts on Kejriwal's two pleas but agreed that the Chief Minister should be released.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha described the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Arvind Kejriwal as a "significant verdict." He stated, “This is a major decision. After a long struggle of six months, Arvind Kejriwal is set to return. The past six months have been extremely challenging for the AAP family, Kejriwal's family, and the entire INDIA Alliance. Ultimately, justice has prevailed with the Supreme Court ruling in favor of Arvind Kejriwal. The AAP will be strengthened by his release, and he will lead the election campaign in Haryana.”
'Resign If You Can't Perform, Delhi is Suffering': BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Arvind Kejriwal's Bail
Reacting to the bail granted to Arvind Kejriwal, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari commented, “An accused individual is being released on bail. He has committed acts that have adversely affected Delhi. However, the court has imposed restrictions on him, including not allowing him to sign documents or visit his office. Delhi is suffering from damaged roads, contaminated water, and issues with the tanker mafia. He should be ashamed. If he cannot fulfill his duties, he should resign and allow someone else to take over. The people of Delhi have endured enough; how much longer will they have to suffer?”
AAP's Manish Sisodia Accuses BJP of Misusing Government Agencies in Kejriwal's Arrest
AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused the BJP of misusing government agencies to keep Arvind Kejriwal in jail. He remarked, “The BJP has been using agencies to ensure Arvind Kejriwal remained incarcerated. The Supreme Court has highlighted today that the manner in which the CBI arrested Kejriwal was aimed at prolonging his detention. Since Kejriwal has committed no wrongdoing, the real motive behind this was the BJP’s. The timing of the CBI’s actions, just as he was about to be released in the ED case, confirms this. The Supreme Court's ruling today has exposed the BJP’s intentions.”
